1. The Packaging That Lights Up Under Blacklight
There are two kinds of "glow" in packaging. Most people don't know the difference.
Phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) charges itself under any light and slowly releases a green afterglow for hours after the lights go out.
UV fluorescent does the opposite. It stays dark in normal light and bursts into vivid neon color the moment a UV blacklight is switched on. Switch the blacklight off, and the glow disappears instantly.

2. Surface-Printed, Not Laminated: What This Means
YZY currently produces UV fluorescent IML using a surface-printing process. The fluorescent ink is printed onto the outer surface of the PP label film and then fused into the container wall during standard injection molding.
This is not the same as a fully encapsulated, sandwich-layer construction where the ink is locked between two PP layers. A sandwich construction would offer the highest possible mechanical durability, but it has a known limitation: the fluorescent ink layer and the base film have different thermal-expansion and adhesion characteristics, and delamination between layers can occur over time, especially under thermal cycling or prolonged UV exposure.
For that reason, YZY has standardized on surface-printed UV fluorescent IML for all current production. The fluorescent ink is applied as the top (outermost) layer on the label, which gives:
· ✅ Maximum UV brightness — the fluorescent layer is directly exposed to incoming UV photons, with no interlayer attenuation
· ✅ Cleaner color saturation — no optical distortion from intermediate film layers
· ✅ Faster production — no lamination step, shorter lead times
· ⚠️ Single-use / short-cycle recommended — the fluorescent layer is the outermost layer, so repeated abrasion (heavy dishwasher cycles, harsh scrubbing) will gradually wear the print
Bottom line: if your application is a one-night Halloween party cup, a 3-day music festival cup, or a 1-month limited-edition beverage launch, surface-printed UV fluorescent IML is the right format. 5. Common Questions
Does it work under any UV light?
365 nm (long-wave UV) and 395 nm (UVA) are both effective. 365 nm produces a slightly brighter glow; 395 nm is safer for human exposure and is the standard in bars and events.
Can it be combined with photoluminescent (glow-in-the-dark) pigment?
Yes. YZY can stack UV fluorescent on top of a photoluminescent base layer — instant UV glow plus green afterglow for hybrid effects. This is a premium customization.
Why not a fully encapsulated (sandwich-layer) construction?
We tested it. The thermal-expansion mismatch between the fluorescent ink layer and the PP base film caused delamination under thermal cycling. Surface printing gives the brightest glow and the most reliable long-term adhesion in real-world use.
